JSS 3 students win Fidelity Bank promo

Two Junior Secondary School students, Fauziyya Garba Abubakar and Raphael Maurice Satryem, have emerged winners of the ongoing Fidelity Bank Save for Scholarship promo in Kaduna State.

While Fauziyyah won the consolation prize of a power generating set of the promo, Raphael emerged the 3rd price winner of N210, 000 payable in five years.
The promo which was aimed at enhancing education at basic level, commenced in August this year.
The 13-year-old Fauziyya, the only child of her parents, said she was shocked when she received a call from the bank, telling her that she had won a power generating set.
“My mother casually opened the account for me so that I can be able to save some money, I never thought that I would be a winner at the promo but God has made it for me,” she said excitedly.
On his part, Mr. Raphael, the 3rd price winner who works with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said he was overwhelmed by the gesture, adding that he would enrol for his Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
“When my account officer told me about the news, I was both happy and surprised because I did not expect to win at all,” he said. “I was encouraged to put in more effort to save money in the bank. I have been saving with the bank for the past 10 years.”
Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Malam Yau Jumare, called on parents to seize the opportunity to better the lives of their children.
He said: “Parents today are not well-to-do and educating their children is important, if they have an avenue like this where they can save a little and maybe win something huge, to a poor parent that is a big assistance to educate his children and what we want is for every child to be in school.
“So if we have support like this, we will have more children in school which is going to be better for the state and the country at large.”
Regional Coordinator, Retail Sales, Ifeaoma Adeniyi, said the aim of the promo was to promote education which she described as the key to development of the economy.
