The Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, has called on the alumni of the university to assist in making the school one of the leading tertiary institutions in the country.
Gbadegesin made the call in an address he delivered during the induction of medical laboratory scientists at the university’s College of Health Sciences, Osogbo.
The VC, who lauded governments of Oyo State and Osun State for their support to the university, however, noted that the institution needed more funds to attain greater excellence.
He said, “I want to admonish the alumni through this medium to know that education has gone beyond sole financing by owner state governments.
“To fulfil the vision of the university which is to become a centre of academic excellence for the advancement of technology and in meeting socio-cultural needs of the society, all hands must be on deck.
“The university covets the support and contributions of all and sundry, especially its alumni who have attained position of responsibilities and influence in the society. They should through their God enabling means look back and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the university.”
The Provost of the college, Prof. Ayoade Adesokan, noted that the university had experienced a new dawn since Gbadegesin came into office.
