The University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association has congratulated President Goodlock Jonathan and Nigerian nation on the occasion of the 54th Independence anniversary of the country.
In a goodwill message to Jonathan who is an alumnus of UNIPORT, the association also congratulated him for his adoption as the sole candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 presidential election.
The association expressed support for the president, saying he had recorded successes in many spheres of life.
The statement signed by the alumni’s National President, Mr. Sam Ngerebara and National Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chris Orji, stated: “We wish to congratulate Mr. President on his adoption by all arms of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the sole presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections. By your adoption as the sole presidential candidate, the PDP has demonstrated clearly that your transformation agenda has come to bear on its choice of making you the party’s sole presidential candidate.
“The alumni association further wish to express our support to your government on your efforts to curtail the Ebola virus disease (EVD) and your spirited fight against militant insurgency with the support of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
“Mr. President, we believe that all these concerted efforts by your government to ensure good governance will give you a resounding victory in 2015 general elections.”
